Josef Hoop

Josef Hoop (born 14 December 1895 in Eschen, † October 19, 1959 in Chur) was from 1958 to 1959 and President of the Parliament on August 4, 1928 to September 3, 1945 Head of Government of the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Life

Josef Hoop was born the son of the farmer Franz Josef Hoop in ash trees. After elementary school, he joined Stan in the middle school, continued his studies at the grammar school in Feldkirch continued to eventually with the Federal Matura in Zurich insurance. He then devoted himself to the study of Oriental languages ​​at the University of Innsbruck, where he in 1920 became a Doctor of Philosophy. In the same year he became a counselor in princely services. Soon he was entrusted with the office of financial support of the government. After the dissolution of the Liechtenstein Embassy in Vienna in 1923 and after completion of the Customs Treaty with Switzerland, he appeared only in Geneva and then in St. Gallen in the service of the Federal Customs Administration. In 1928, when the Progressive Citizens' Party had gained the majority in the state elections, he ordered them back to the land and gave him the post of prime minister.

Josef Hoop was a member of the Progressive Citizens' Party in Liechtenstein. Under the government Hoop inland canal was named after the Rhine 1927 disaster built and drains the valley floor. In 1938 he received from the hands of Prince Franz I, the Grand Cross of the Princely Liechtenstein Order of Merit.
