Josef Hornauer

Josef Hornauer ( born January 14, 1908 in Munich, † December 12, 1985 ) was a German football striker. He was considered technically gifted and had a good shot.

His start in the German national team, he was in 1928, when he, then playing three matches completed for TSV 1860 München. The first international match against Switzerland he met and the game was won 3-2. So he was allowed to also participate in Amsterdam 's Olympic football tournament. Again, my first opponent was Switzerland. Hornauer again scored a goal and the German national team won 4-0. But then came the unfortunate occurrence against Uruguay. The game ended with 1:4 lost and the circumstances ( dismissal of Hans calf and Richard Hofmann and violations of Josef Pöttinger, Heinrich Weber and Heinrich Stuhlfauth ) left the game as the shame of Amsterdam go down in history.

A year later, he had changed the club and now stepped up to the 1st FC Nuremberg and belonged to the almost legendary team that won 2-1 against Olympic bronze medalists Italy in Turin. Hornauer headed once again made a hit. But in hell of Turin, it was mainly thanks to Heinrich Stuhlfauth, who defeated on this day rose above themselves and all the Italian chances. However, with this victory, the German football gave final approval and attention.

Hornauer but came only once in the national team for use. In 1931 they lost against the miracle team of Austria under the leadership of Matthias Sindelar 5:0, probably one reason why Hornauer was not appointed.

Hornauer then moved back to Munich in 1860. The end of his career, however, was spectacular. With less than 24 years, the football section was done for him, as the player Max " Mucki " Eiberger he was once preferred. He made by another on the final day. According to rumors he could not get over it, that another was preferred to him. In fact, he would have otherwise lost his job.
