Josef Jakob

Jacob Joseph ( born September 11, 1939 in Carani (German: Mercydorf ), Banat ) is a former Romanian handball player and handball coach. His achievements are winning the World Handball Championship, World Cup bronze and winning the European Cup. These six national champion titles come with Steaua Bucharest. Jacob was the mid-sixties as the best right winger in the world. His specialty was quick counter kicks and goal area passes to the oppositely positioned outside the circle players or runners. In 45 internationals James threw 121 goals.

Josef Jakob attended elementary school in his hometown Mercydorf ( 1947-1953 ). As a student of sixth class Jakob played once in the Mercydorfer field handball team against the Orzydorfer as a right winger. From 1953 to 1955 he began a teacher training at the Pedagogical Lyceum in Timişoara. He broke off this when Alexander Court Codreanu took him in 1955 to Electro Motor Timisoara in the Regionalliga. In the same year the coach moved with the entire team to Progresul Timisoara. With the regional league, he finished second behind CFR Timisoara.

First League

1957 Jacob moved to Tehnometal Timisoara in the first division. There was Adam Fischer from Triebswetter his coach. After changing Josef Jakob was appointed for the first time in the youth national team. After a long training camp in Sighisoara and Bucharest, the youth team played two games in Poland on the big field. National players

In 1962, Jacob was invited for the first time the national team. When Jacob came to Steaua, Hans- Gunther Schmidt was already in the army club. Coaching career

1971 Jacob was player-coach at the German regional league LTV Wuppertal, he remained four years faithfully. After Esslingen dismissed him after a year, he became player-coach at the Oberliga TSV Scharnhausen, whom he led to the Regionalliga. Then Jacob took over for six years as coach of the then district division club TSV Neuhausen, whom he led to the League Association. After a brief stop in Bern Hausen, he trained in the season 1992/93 the RSK Esslingen and then returned to the TSV Neuhausen, where he leads the second men's team from the county League II in the district league. In 2009 Jakob from Romanian President Traian Basescu of Sports Merit ( Ordinul " Meritul Sportiv ") was awarded second class.
