Josef Kyrle

Josef Kyrle ( born December 8, 1880 in Schärding, † March 30 1926 in Vienna ) was an Austrian dermatologist.

Life

Josef Kyrle studied at the University of Graz, where he took off his doctorate in 1904. After that he went as a student of Anton Weichselbaum to Vienna at the Pathological- Anatomical Institute of the University of Vienna. In 1906 he moved to the University Department of Dermatology and Syphilis in the General Hospital under Ernest finger ( 1856-1939 ). Kyrle here habilitated in 1913 and became associate professor in 1918.

1932 Josef Kyrle Alley was named in Vienna Hietzing after him.

Performance

Kyrles significant scientific achievement lies in his collaboration with Julius Wagner -Jauregg. This had the idea for the therapeutic generation of fever in syphilis patients by malaria parasites. Wagner Jauregg and Kyrle tested their method on thousands of patients, with Kyrle their cerebrospinal fluid examined. The early death Kyrles this did not live as Wagner Jauregg 1927 was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine for this joint research.

In 1916 he described the disease named after him Kyrle ( Idiopathic perforating dermatosis, hyperkeratosis follicularis et parafollicularis in cutem penetrans ). In addition, Kyrle researched together with Anton Weichselbaum of the islets of Langerhans.
