Josef Minsch

Joseph " Jos " Minsh (born 23 June 1941 in the monastery; † 7 June 2008 ) was a Swiss ski racer. He was successfully active in the 1960s and especially in the downhill runs.

Biography

At the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck, he reached the fourth place in the downhill and missed the bronze medal by just six hundredths of a second; in the giant slalom, he was ninth. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1968 he reached the 14th place in the downhill.

In has been held since 1967 Skiweltcup Minsh won on February 9, 1969 in Cortina d' Ampezzo, a ski run. He also reached another ten placings in the top ten. Minsh won a total of five Swiss Championship (departure in 1963, 1964 and 1966, Giant Slalom 1963 combination 1963). In 1963 he was also American downhill and giant slalom champion.

During the Lauberhorn downhill in 1965 Minsh crashed heavily and suffered a fractured pelvis, and he was sidelined for a year. Located below the " Hundschopf » Jump overthrow site has since been named after him as " Minschkante ". 1966 Minsh was defeated at the Lauberhorn downhill only the Austrian Karl Schranz. In the same year he won the departure of the 3- Tre race in Madonna di Campiglio.

After his resignation, the end of the 1968/69 season, the trained mechanic and licensed ski initially worked as a representative for his ski and ski boot company and was then twenty years working as head of the ski school monastery.
