Josef Thaler

Josef Thaler is a former Austrian luger.

Josef Thaler was a successful especially in the mid-1950s luger from a successful bobsleigh and luge family. He won at the first World Championships in luge in 1955 in Oslo together with his partner Hans Krausner the title in doubles. In addition, he finished second in the contest of single-seater behind the local hero Anton Salvesen. A year later, at the European Championships added a bronze medal, the won Thaler with Luis Posch behind Wilhelm Leimgruber / Josef Unterfrauner and Erich Raffl / Stefan scoop.
