Joseph A. Dixon

Joseph Andrew Dixon ( born June 3, 1879 in Cincinnati, Ohio; † July 4, 1942 ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party. From 1937 to 1939 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for the 1st Congressional District of the State of Ohio.

Biography

Born Joseph Andrew Dixon in Cincinnati. He attended St. Patrick's School, which Hughes High School and Xavier University of Cincinnati. In a business of a merchant, he worked as assistant to 1893 until 1900. In the clothing trade, he worked in Cincinnati, Anderson and Hartford City. He was the manager and owner of amateur and professional baseball teams.

In 1936 he was elected as representative of the 1st Congressional District of Ohio in the U.S. House of Representatives. His re-election in 1938 was not successful. He went back to his native town and went back to his business. Dixon died in 1942 in his native city. His final resting he took on the St. Joseph 's Cemetery in Cincinnati.
