Joseph Anton Fischer

Joseph Anton Fischer (* February 28, 1814 in Oberstdorf, † March 28, 1859 in Munich) was a German painter, considered to be representative of the art of the Nazarenes.

Curriculum vitae

After attending art school in 1831 by Ignaz Schraudolph Fischer came to the Academy of Fine Arts Munich to Joseph Schlotthauer ( history painting ). At 18, Fischer was commissioned by Crown Prince Maximilian to central Italy to copy important works of art by Raphael. Back in Germany, Fischer painted in 1835 for Prof. Heinrich von Hess window boxes for the Mariahilfkirche in the Au. The boxes were, like the glass window itself (except for The Adoration of the Magi ), the second world war victims. There were other trips to Italy in the 1840s. Fischer stayed more frequently in his birthplace of Oberstdorf and sulfur Tiefenbach on. He suffered from stomach bleeding and was at the end of his tether. 1859 Fischer died. His estate, intended for a fishing museum in Oberstdorf is burned for the most part (1865, the so-called Great Fire ).
