Joseph B. Cheadle

Joseph Bonaparte Cheadle ( born August 14, 1842 in Perrysville, Vermillion County, Indiana, † May 28 1904 in Frankfort, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1887 and 1891 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Joseph Cheadle attended the public schools of his home and then began studying at the Asbury University in Greencastle, DePauw University later emerged from the. This study broke from Cheadle but to participate as a volunteer soldier unit from Indiana in the Civil War. After the war he studied until 1867 at the Indianapolis Law College Jura. After qualifying as a lawyer, he began to work in Newport in this profession. Until 1873 he continued his legal work; then he went into the newspaper business.

Politically, Cheadle member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1886, he was in the ninth constituency of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Thomas B. Ward on March 4, 1887. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1891 two legislative sessions. In 1890, he was not nominated by his party for re-election. Two years later he sought, again unsuccessfully, the Republican nomination for the congressional elections.

In the following years, Cheadle joined the Democratic Party. In 1896 and 1898, he competed again in each case unsuccessfully to return to Congress. In 1896 he became editor of the newspaper " American Standard ". Joseph Cheadle, died on 28 May 1904 in Frankfort, where he was also buried.
