Joseph Beuys Media Archive

The Joseph Beuys Media Archive is an institution in collaboration with the " Nationalgalerie im Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum of Contemporary Art - National Museums in Berlin " and " Joseph Beuys Estate" (behind the family of Beuys' widow Eva Beuys stands ) Dusseldorf. It collects, archives and published media by the German artist Joseph Beuys.

Foundation

The archive was opened on 5 November 1996 with two world premieres. For one with a double projection of " Coyote III ," an action that Beuys had performed together with Nam June Paik in Tokyo. On the other hand, with a performance by Takehisa Kosugi, who performed a hitherto regarded as unplayable score by John Cage. The score was a gift from Cage Beuys for his 60th birthday.

Media

The media, film and sound documents by and about Joseph Beuys and his work is collected, archived and digitized to make them accessible to both research as well as the audience. Furthermore, they are collected in a series, the work relationships are documented in its publications, making the set to music and film work can be considered in its relations to the whole plant.
