Joseph Bouck

Joseph Bouck ( born July 22, 1788 Bouck 's Iceland, New York, † March 30, 1858 in Middleburgh, New York ) was an American politician. Between 1831 and 1833 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives. Congressman Gabriel Bouck was his nephew.

Career

Joseph Bouck was born about five years after the end of the Revolutionary War at Bouck 's Iceland in Fultonham in Schoharie County. He attended the village school in his home district. After that he worked until his move to Middleburgh many years in agriculture. In 1828 he worked as an inspector for the road user charge ( turnpike roads ) in Schoharie County. Politically, he was a member of the Jacksonian Group. In the congressional elections of 1830 for the 22nd Congress Bouck was in the twelfth electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Peter J. Borst after March 4, 1831. He retired after the March 3, 1833 out of the Congress. After his conference time he lived again in Middleburgh, where he died on 30 March 1858. His body was buried in the grave of his son on the Middleburgh Cemetery.
