Joseph Chesire

Joseph Chesire ( born November 12, 1957) is a former Kenyan middle distance runner, who had his greatest successes in the 1500 -meter distance.

In 1984, he finished fourth at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. The following year, he won the bronze medal at the IAAF World Indoor Games in Paris and at the Track Africa Championships in Cairo. Another bronze medal at the Pan-African Games in Nairobi in 1987 followed shortly after a fourth place finish at the World Athletics Championships in Rome.

In 1988 he was at the Olympic Games in Seoul eleventh. In 1989 he took at the African Championships in Lagos not only the title over 1500 m, but also won bronze over 800m.

At the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland he was seventh in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona again fourth, and at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart, he reached the semifinals.
