Joseph Crescent McKinney

Joseph Crescent McKinney ( born September 10, 1928 in Grand Rapids, † June 9, 2010 ) was Auxiliary Bishop of Grand Rapids.

Life

Joseph Crescent McKinney studied at the Séminaire de Philosophy, University of Montreal and the Roman Pontifical Urban University ( Collegio di Propaganda Fide ). After graduating, he received on 20 December 1953, the sacrament of Holy Orders in the chapel of the Collegio di Propaganda Fide. Until 1962, he worked at St. Joseph seminary. From 1962 to 1968 he was a minister in Indian River, Mount Pleasant and Conklin.

On July 24, 1968 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Titular Bishop of Leontium and appointed him as Auxiliary Bishop of Grand Rapids. The Archbishop of Detroit John Francis Dearden gave him on 26 September of the same year the episcopal ordination; Were co-consecrators Allen James Babcock, Bishop of Grand Rapids, and Charles Sałatka, Bishop of Marquette. He was for 33 years rector of the Cathedral of St Andrew in Grand Rapids and vicar general in the Diocese of Grand Rapids; Moreover, he was in numerous commissions, even across the U.S., represented.

On 3 October 2001 the resignation for reasons of age by Pope John Paul II was upheld.
