Joseph-Ernst Graf Fugger von Glött

Joseph Ernst Hermann Theodor Carl Maria Graf, since 1940 Fürst Fugger of Glött ( born October 26, 1895 in Kirchheim in Schwaben, † 13 May 1981 in Mies Bach ) was a German politician of the CSU. The common form of the name is Joseph Ernst Fürst Fugger of Glött.

Life

Joseph Ernst Graf Fugger of Glött was the youngest of three children of Prince Carl Ernst Fugger of Glött (1859-1940) and Countess Elizabeth of Quadt to Wykradt and Isny ( 1862-1940 ).

In his first marriage he was 1920-1943 with Stephanie Princess of Hohenzollern ( 1895-1975 ) married. In 1975, he married the 40 years younger Angela of Kienlin (* 1935).

Fugger of Glött was since 1940 head of the former princely house of Fugger Glött and therefore called himself since " Fürst Fugger of Glött ". He was a member from 1939 the Wehrmacht. After he was released due to the Prince decree, he joined the Kreisauer circle. For this he agreed, in the event of a successful coup to take over the office of Landesverwesers for Bavaria. After the failed attempt to assassinate Hitler on 20 July 1944 he was sentenced by the People's Court under Roland freisler to three years' imprisonment in the penitentiary of Bayreuth, but liberated in May 1945 by soldiers of the U.S. Army.

After the war, he was among the founders of the CSU in Mindelheim. He belonged to the German Bundestag in its first legislative period (1949-1953) than in the constituency Memmingen directly elected representative. 1953 to 1956 he was chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Association (IPA). From 1954 to 1962 he was a member of the Bavarian Landtag.

Fugger of Glött was childless and adopted his nephew Albert ( born 1932 ), son of his older sister Mary ( 1894-1935 ) and Ferdinand Graf von Arco Battlement Mountain ( 1882-1940 ).
