Joseph Kehrein

Joseph Kehrein ( born October 20, 1808 in Heidenheim am Rhein, † March 25, 1876 in Montabaur ) was a German teacher, philologist, historian and director of Montabaurer teacher seminar.

Life

In 1823 he attended the Episcopal High School in Mainz. Between 1831 and 1834 he studied at the University of Giessen classical philology, but also deals with philosophy, art history, mathematics, English and French.

In 1845 he was the Nassau Board of Education Dr. Gottfried Seebode appointed to the school in Hadamar where he worked for ten years as deputy director.

In 1855 he was appointed director of the Teachers' College Montabaur.

Awards

In recognition of his services to the elementary and schools of learning him, the City Council Montabaur awarded honorary citizenship in early 1873.

A primary school in Montabaur is now named after him.
