Joseph Lamothe

Joseph Lamothe († August 31, 1891 ) was a Haitian general, politician, and President of Haiti.

Biography

After school he completed a military career and rose to become a general and commander of the army units on the Department Ouest.

Following the resignation of President Pierre Théoma Boisrond - Canal on July 17, 1879, he was first a member and then on July 26, 1879 Chairman of the Provisional Government, and thus provisional president of Haiti. This office he held until the election of Lysius Solomon on October 2, 1879.
