Joseph M. Juran

Joseph Moses Juran ( born December 24, 1904 in Braila, Romania, † February 28, 2008 in Rye, Westchester County, NY ) was a Romanian- American industrial engineer and was one of the pioneers of quality management.

Life

He was brought to the initiative of William Edwards Deming to Japan in 1953 after he similar to Deming found little recognition for his ideas on the development of quality and meaning in the U.S.. In Japan, he worked primarily as a personal adviser to Mr. Toyoda (see also Toyota), which he played a key role in the development of the Japanese automotive industry.
