Joseph P. Teasdale

Joseph Patrick Teasdale ( born March 29, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri ) is a former American politician (Democratic Party). He was from 1977 to 1981 the 48th Governor of Missouri.

Early years and career

Teasdale attended Rockhurst College and then studied at the St. Louis University law. In 1960 he made ​​his law degree. Between 1962 and 1966 he worked as a federal prosecutor for the western part of Missouri. Between 1966 and 1972 he was District Attorney in Jackson County. On November 2, 1976, he was elected as a Democratic candidate against the incumbent Kit Bond as the new governor of his state.

Teasdale began his four-year term on 10 January 1977. He was a member of several associations governor. His tenure was largely unspectacular. In 1980 he stood for re-election. This time, however, he was defeated by Bond, who thus became his successor.
