His parents were teachers and Slovenia came from Gorica. He worked as a civil servant in various places in the Empire of Austria.

Chess composition

His name is by " Plachuttas average point " (as it Kohtz and Kockelkorn in her work " The Indian problem " call ) remained common until today. There is an intersection combination in which the lines of action of two gleichschrittiger black figures are adjusted in their intersection by a white sacrificial stone. Here the root problem, which is the "original Plachutta ":

Solution: 1 Df3! threatens triple 2.d4, Qxf6, Lxf6 matt. 1 ... 2 Sxc5 tg7! The typical Plachutta victim threatens the same time 3 3 DG3 and LC7 matt 2 ... 3 Tgxg7 LC7 Txc7 4 matt DG3 2 ... Thxg7 3 DG3 Txg3 4 matt LC7 and except thematically 2 ... Kd6 3 e5 Lxe5, Kxe5 4 LC7 matt and 2 ... Nxe4 3 dxe4 Kd6 4 LC7 matt

In contrast to the Nowotny is a Plachutta at least a three Züger necessary, as clearly shown in the course of solution; Although the towers are each other's way, but the tower located at the intersection must first be diverted away.
