Joseph Stefano

Joseph Stefano ( born May 5, 1922 in Philadelphia, † August 25, 2006 in Thousand Oaks, California ) was an American entertainer and screenwriter.

Life

Joseph Stefano graduated in 1940 from the South Philadelphia High School and went to New York to become an entertainer. He played the piano, sang, danced and wrote music and poetry.

At the beginning of his career he composed in the 1940s still pop music. He then moved for writing movie scripts, one of his first scripts was in 1958 for The Black Orchid. Stefano was 1960, a scriptwriter for 20th Century Fox, moved to Hollywood in order. There followed at the beginning the screenplay for the Hitchcock classic Psycho, was to make him famous. Later he wrote among other things for Outer Limits - The unknown dimension and Star Trek - The Next Generations. In 1990, he returned to his beginnings when he won the screenplay for Psycho IV - The Beginning wrote, a further continuation of the Hitchcock film. In addition, Stefanos screenplay for the original Hitchcock served as the basis for the remake of director Gus Van Sant from the year 1998.

Stefano left behind his wife and a son.
