Joseph Straus

Joseph Straus ( born December 14, 1938 in Trieste ) is a scientist in the field of patent law.

Biography

Straus is Emeritus Director of the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law in Munich and Head of the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center. As a professor, he taught at the Ludwig- Maximilians- University of Munich and at the University of Ljubljana and at the George Washington University, Washington, DC He lectures internationally and is a among governments and international organizations as well as with NGOs and companies demand as a conversation partner for all aspects of patent law. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and a vice president (as of 2012). He has received several honorary doctorates and other awards. He is among other things Editor of the journal IIC International and has authored numerous publications, especially on issues of patent law.
