Joseph Wresinski

Joseph Wresinski ( pl. Józef Wrzesiński ) ( born February 12, 1917 in Angers, France, † February 14, 1988 in Suresnes, France) was the founder of the Human Rights Movement ATD Fourth World.

As a chaplain at a homeless camp near Paris, he straightened up again and again in the hopes of most excluded from in order to build strong relationships among the poverty-stricken people and with the rest of society. For this project, he was able to attract people of all faiths and worldviews. The International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (17 October ) goes back to his initiative.

One of his core beliefs was: " The misery is not immutable; it is caused by people, and people can also overcome. "
