Josette Sheeran

Josette Sheeran (born 1954 ) is an American director of the World Food Programme (WFP - United Nations World Food Programme ).

Life

Josette Sheeran has completed her studies at the University of Colorado in 1976. Subsequently, she worked first as a journalist and in the private sector. She then moved into politics. So she worked before her appointment as Executive Director of WFP as Secretary of State for Economic and Agricultural Affairs ( Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs ) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United States.

Sheeran is since April 2007, the eleventh Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP - United Nations World Food Programme ). So you leads the largest humanitarian organization in the world. In their tenure, with the world food crisis of 2008 and the emergency aid after the earthquake in Haiti in the spring of 2010, probably the greatest challenges since the inception of WFP. In its most important campaign to curb the global food crisis Sheeran coined the beginning of 2008 the expression, the global food crisis was a " silent tsunami ".
