Josh Mostel

Joshua Mostel ( born December 21, 1946 in New York City, New York ) is an American actor.

Life

Mostel is the son of film and theater actor Zero Mostel and had his first stage performances as a boy soprano at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He attended Brandeis University in 1971 and celebrated his feature film and Broadway debut. After a few minor roles on the side of Robert Mitchum and Jack Nicholson, he had the role of King Herod in the film adaptation of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

In 1979, he played one of the main roles of the television series Delta House, on the film comedy I think, ' Animal House based. He played Bluto, who was shown in the original film by John Belushi. However, the sitcom could not connect to the great success of the film and was discontinued after twelve episodes. In the 1980s, Mostel played among others in Woody Allen's Radio Days and Oliver Stone's Wall Street. He also had several guest appearances in television series and played on Broadway in the coin Matthias in Bert Brecht's Threepenny Opera. In the 1990s he played among others in both City Slickers movies and two comedies with Adam Sandler. Since the late 1990s it occurs only rarely on television and film.

Mostel is divorced, he has no children.
