Joshua Hall

Joshua Hall ( born October 22, 1768 in Lewes, Delaware, † December 25, 1862 ) was an American politician and governor of Maine in 1830.

Curriculum vitae

Joshua Hall attended the local schools of his home in Delaware. After school he worked as a preacher of the Methodist Church. From 1814 to 1819 he was deputy several times in the state parliament of Massachusetts.

After the emergence of the new U.S. state of Maine, he was politically active there. In 1830 he was a member and President of the House of Representatives from Maine. After the sitting governor Enoch Lincoln had died in office, the Senate President Nathan Cutler took over the constitution the office of governor. Whose term of office as President of the Senate expired in January 1830. The remainder of the term of the governor until February 9, 1830 had to be terminated by Joshua Hall. After the end of his short time Governor Hall withdrew from politics and was re- worked as a preacher. He died in December 1862.
