Joshua Radin
Joshua Radin ( born June 14, 1974 in Shaker Heights, Cleveland, Ohio) is an American musician, singer, and author.
Career
Singer and guitarist Joshua Radin is a good friend of the director and actor Zach Braff ( Scrubs - ), by whom he is strongly encouraged. He learned Braff during his art studies at Northwestern University know. After his studies, Radin worked for some time yet as an art teacher for fifth and sixth classes.
As Zach Braff in 2003 his first film ( Garden State ) turned, and Joshua Radin was there, which can be seen briefly in a scene. He later said that, had brought to him the fact that his best friend could make a film, to follow his dreams and record songs. On the grammyausgezeichneten soundtrack to Garden State, therefore, still appears no music by him, Joshua calls this today a major missed opportunity ( "huge missed opportunity" ).
In early 2004, Radin's song " Winter" in an episode of Scrubs - The Beginners played with Zach Braff and enjoyed great popularity, so in mid-2004 Joshua's first CD " First Between 3rd and 4th" appeared, an EP with six songs. In the following years, his music became increasingly popular, followed by musical performances in almost every major American series hits including Grey's Anatomy, Brothers and Sisters, One Tree Hill, Castle or House MD. After his musical appearance on the soundtrack to Zach Braff's second film " The Last Kiss " also discovered another major film production companies Radin for themselves. His album achieved high praise and some critics claimed "Joshua Radin says more with a whisper than most with a cry ." The American media reported him as a kind of new Nick Drake and Elliott Smith.
His first record label was Sony, with whom he had signed a long -term contract for multiple albums. Following the presentation of his second album Sony Radin pointed out, however, that no Top 40 hit was on the album and rejected his version. Then he bought himself out of the contract and is now at a small indie label ( " MOM POP" ) for this class.
As of 9 September 2008, Joshua Radin's second album, " Simple Times " first appeared on iTunes before it was in stores from 30 September 2008. Was released in 2010 the album as a UK version, on which some of the songs had been revised.
On August 7, 2010 Radin confirmed via Twitter October 12, 2010 as the release date for his third album "The Rock and the Tide ". The UK version of his third album was released in 2011. On the album the track list was changed, and some titles are removed. His single "I Missed You " only appeared on the UK version of the album. That same year, he contributed the song " Paperweight " to the movie Dear John with Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried.
Genre and Trivia
His musical genre is the American folk, so it's not surprising that his idols, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens and Simon and Garfunkel are. His sonic trademarks are especially catchy, multi-faceted, sometimes distorted or electronically processed voice, on soft guitar chords very reduced sound which partially gives his songs campfire atmosphere, as well as the pace, which usually far behind - even once very spacious - American Folk pace remains. The most popular song "Winter ", which was also the first song that was recorded at Scrubs recalls, mainly because of the very intimate singing strongly to Simon and Garfunkel.
On his last tour told Joshua that he himself had created a new genre called " whisper rock".
During an encore, he jumped into the audience and played unplugged two songs. Although he had to sing loudly, but there was but whispered among viewers. The term " whisper rock" he has now converted into a form that is now seen as his symbol on his fan shirts.
