Josie Ho

Josephine " Josie " Ho Chiu- Yi (Chinese何超仪; born December 26, 1974 in Hong Kong) is a Chinese- Canadian actress and singer, who is known in Asia especially for their unconventional film roles and as the daughter of Macau casino billionaire Stanley Ho is.

Biography

Ho was born on December 26, 1974 as the daughter of Stanley Ho and his second wife King Ying Nam in Hong Kong. She has four siblings, including Pansy Ho and Lawrence Ho belong, and twelve half-siblings. At the age of 13 years, her parents sent her to a Canadian boarding school. Ridley College in St. Catharines, Ontario After her graduation she decided, against the wishes of her father, a career in the entertainment industry to pursue. First, they went on for some time to Taiwan to work as a singer and to learn Mandarin. Later, she returned to Hong Kong when she there received an offer for a movie role and then there also was able to close a deal. Since then she has worked in Hong Kong as an actress and musician. In 2003, she married Conroy Chan, the lead singer of the band alive.

Career as an actress

Ho received her first film role in 1994 as a volleyball player in the Hong Kong Sports Drama Victory on a volleyball team. The role had been conveyed to her by her former high school volleyball coach, as the film studio was looking for actors who could embody the physical aspects of the role convincingly. In Chinese Box Ho had a cameo role in 1997 and is seen here in a scene with Gong Li and Jeremy Irons. In 1999, she starred in the action film Purple Storm a terrorist who is willing to sacrifice her husband and children for their political goals. For this role, she received a Golden Horse nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Career as a musician

Ho took at the beginning of her career on three Cantopop albums, but then she quit her record deal because she was unhappy with the strict requirements of their record company and wanted to gain greater control of their musical work. Since then she has recorded several rock albums and performs regularly with her own band as Josie Ho & The Uni Boys.
