Jouni Kaitainen

Jouni Mikael Kaitainen ( born June 9, 1980 in Lahti ) is a retired Finnish Nordic skier.

Career

Jouni Kaitainen is married and starts for Lahti Hiihtoseura. Since 1985 he runs skiing, since 1997, at an international level. At the Junior World Championships 1999 in Saalfelden sea, he won the silver medal in the Gundersen competition behind Samppa Lajunen. In March of that year he was in Falun in a sprint race his debut in the World Cup Nordic combined and finished twelfth. In January 2000, he was also the first time to achieve a place in the top ten in eighth place in Val di Fiemme. A short time later at the Junior World Championship 2000 in Štrbské Pleso, he won the Finnish season, which also includes Jaakko Tallus belonged to the gold medal.

In 2003 Kaitainen in Val di Fiemme for the first time at a Nordic World Ski Championships and won with the Finnish team to Hannu Manninen, Lajunen and Tallus behind Austria and Germany the bronze medal. Two years later he missed with the Finnish team in fourth place when in Oberstdorf a medal. With more than 115 World Cup starts (as of 10 December 2007) he was 16 times reach places in the top ten. Best result so far is the third place in a Gundersen competition in his home town of Lahti in March 2003. Highest in the World Cup was in season 2003/ 04, a 16th Place.

2008 ended Kaitainen his active career.
