Jovdat Hajiyev

Əhməd Cövdət Ismayil oglu Hajiyev ( born June 5, 1917 in Şəki; † 18 January 2002) was an Azerbaijani composer.

Hajiyev studied from 1936 to 1938 in Baku at Üzeyir Hacıbəyov and then in Moscow with Anatoly Alexandrov. From 1941 to 1945 and from 1947 to 1948 he led the Philharmonic Hall of Baku. After studying composition with Dmitri Shostakovich, he taught at the Conservatory of Baku, which he headed until 1968 as a director in 1957. He composed an opera ( Vätän, UA 1945), a ballet, five symphonies, three symphonic poems, two string quartets and piano pieces.
