JOVIAL

JOVIAL is a programming language that is mainly used by the armed forces of the United States.

General

JOVIAL ( Jules Own Version of the International Algorithmic Language) is a 1959 developed for use in embedded systems programming. It was developed by Jules Schwartz and syntax accords essentially Algol 58 This is also indicated the name part International Algorithmic Language through which corresponds to the original name of ALGOL.

Standards and application areas

The language was standardized as 1589 1973 United States Defense Standard ( MIL -STD ) and revised in 1984 as MIL -STD- 1589C. The reason for the standardization is to spread the language for maintenance and operation of aircraft and vehicles of the U.S. military.
