Jože Dežman

Jože Dežman ( born September 26, 1955 in Lesce ) is a Slovenian historian. He is currently director of the Museum of Modern History of Slovenia in Ljubljana.

Jože Dežman, nephew of the Yugoslav Partisans and Army General Anton Dežman ( " Tonček " ), studied history at the University of Ljubljana. After Slovenia's independence, he was active in the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia, which he left again.

He was entrusted by the conservative government of Janez Janša with the Head of the newly established Commission for hidden mass graves in 2005, but this was not continued after the change of government in 2008. He was director of the Museum of Modern History of Slovenia in Ljubljana and is currently director of the Archives of Slovenia.

To Dežmans activities include, among others, the investigation of the mass grave in Barbara studs of Huda Jama in Lasko and the mass grave at Brežice.
