Jozef Adamec

Jozef Adamec ( born February 26, 1942 in Vrbove ) is a former Slovak football player and current coach.

Club career

Adamec played in his youth for Iskra Vrbove. In 1958 he moved to Spartak Trnava. Between 1961 and 1963 he completed his military service in the army sports club Dukla Prague. He then played for Slovan Bratislava. In 1966 he returned to Spartak Trnava. At the end of his career, he was allowed to switch like so many before and after him in the capitalist countries. From 1977 to 1980 he was with SK Slovan Vienna under contract, where he served as player-coach.

Adamec was in 1967 with 21 goals, 1968 18, 1970 16 and 1971 also with 16 goals scorer of the 1st Czechoslovak league.

In 383 league games, he scored 170 goals, including 138 for Spartak Trnava, 17 for Dukla Prague and 15 for Slovan Bratislava.

National

For Czechoslovakia the middle and inside forward played 44 matches and scored 14 goals. His international debut, he played on October 30, 1960 in a 4-0 win against the Netherlands in Prague. His last international game, he completed on October 13, 1974 in a 4-0 win against Sweden in Bratislava. Adamec was World Cup qualifiers in Chile in 1962, where he was runner-up with Czechoslovakia. He also participated in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, where the Czechoslovaks not went beyond the group stage.

On June 23, 1968, he scored in a 3-2 victory against Czechoslovakia in Bratislava Brazil, all three goals.

Coaching career

In the 1976/77 season, while still a player at Spartak Trnava active, Adamec worked there as assistant coach. In Slovan Vienna (1977 to 1980) he was a player coach. 1980/81 he was a coach at FK Slovan Duslo Šaľa in the 3rd league. On January 1, 1982, he took over as coach at Dukla Banská Bystrica, the descent into the second league, however, could not prevent. He rose with the team immediately and reached in 1983/84 an excellent fourth place. On 1 January 1989 he was coach at Inter Bratislava and managed to 1989/90 third place. 1991/92 he was training again Dukla Banská Bystrica and was Table. 1992/93 he returned to Inter. 1994/95 trained Adamec Svit Zlín, but was dismissed three games left in the season, when the team was in 14th place. 1998/99 he was a coach at FC 1 Tatran Prešov. From 1999 to 2001 he was coach of the Slovak national team, then he coached from 2001 to 2003 at his former club Spartak Trnava. 2003/ 04 he was relatively unsuccessful coach of Slovan Bratislava. For the 2005/06 season he returned to Trnava, in July 2006, he is a trainer at Artmedia Bratislava.

Others

  • Adamec 2006 ran unsuccessfully in the Slovak parliamentary elections for the small party HZD ( hnutie za demokraciu ).
