Józef Paczoski

Józef Konrad Paczoski ( born December 8, 1864 in Białogródka, Volhynia (Poland ); † February 14, 1942 in Sierosław at Posen) was a Polish botanist and university professor. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Pacz. ".

Life and work

Paczoski studied from 1887 at the University of Krakow and later at the University of Kiev botany. Influential teachers in Kiev was the botanist Ivan Fyodorovich Schmalhausen.

After further study in Saint Petersburg and Lviv, he founded the first high school Institute of Plant sociology in Poznan and is regarded as the founders of this science. Paczoski also coined the term "plant sociology ".
