Jozef Schils

Jozef " Jef " reeds ( born September 4, 1931 in Kersbeek - Miskom; † March 3, 2007 in Asse ) was a Belgian racing cyclist.

1952, at the age of 21 years, Jozef reeds, was the only just become a professional racing driver, and still was in the army, Belgian champion in the road race. He was nominated for the Road World Championships in Luxembourg in the same year, finishing in tenth place.

Reeds went as a professional until 1965 and won in this period around 40 Belgian criteria. 1953 was his most successful year in which he won Paris -Tours and the National Sluitingsprijs. In 1955 he won at Nokere Koerse. His nickname was the "little Coppi " since Fausto Coppi had expressed praise for him. However, offers to go to Italy, he refused. In 1960 he transferred but the French team, " Mercier ", which was led by Antonin Magne and in the Raymond Poulidor drove. At the end of the season he crashed heavily and 1961 again. In 1965, he finished his career.

Then Jozef reeds opened a café in Koekelberg, later, a laundry service and a bicycle shop. Jozef reeds was the father of the racer Dominic reeds and the grandfather of Patrick reeds.
