József Károly Hell

Jozef Karol Hell ( Josef Karl Holl, born May 15, 1713 Banská Štiavnica, † March 11, 1789 ibid ) was a mining engineer and invented a new water pump, which worked with wasserdruckerzeugtem air pressure. The pump was tested for the first time on 23 March 1753. Moreover, this goes back to his hometown around tajchy scale reservoir system at his suggestion, which was used to supply water to the supplied not of rivers map.

His father, Matej Kornel Hell was main engines champion and pioneer of the Hungarian mine mechanization. His brother was the astronomer Maximilian Hell ( 1720-1792 ). Jozef studied until 1737 at the Mining Academy of Schemnitz with Professor Samuel Mikoviny mechanics and hydraulics.
