József Marek
Josef Marek ( born March 18, 1868 in Vágszerdahely, today Horna Streda in Slovakia, † September 7, 1952 in Budapest) was a Hungarian veterinarian. Marek was a professor of veterinary pathology at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Budapest. In 1907 he first described a herpes viral disease in poultry, which is now called after him as Marek 's disease. His textbooks published in several editions and been translated into several languages.
