József Turay

József Turay ( born March 1, 1905 in Eger, Austria - Hungary, † June 24, 1963 in Budapest, Hungary) was a Hungarian football player who five league titles and the Mitropacup won in the interwar period with Ferencvaros and the Hungaria and with the Hungarian national team 1938 Vice World Champion.

Club career

Turay began his career at Röppentyű utcai SC, where he was brought in 1926 with the introduction of professional football by István Tóth - Potya to Ferencvárosi FC in the highest Hungarian league. There, the center forward was initially only replacement, since this position was occupied by arrivierten Mihály Pataki. Turay was accordingly only a few uses, but could already celebrate in his first season with the townspeople Franzens the Double. After Pataki had ended his career, Turay took over his position and was able to establish itself quickly in a forward line with Vilmos Kohut and József Takács.

This year he was also elected Hungarian Footballer of the Year. According to a third Cup victory in 1933 Turay left the club and joined local rivals Hungaria FC.

National
