Juan Bautista Alberdi Department

The department Juan Bautista Alberdi located in the southwest of the province of Tucumán in northwestern Argentina, and is one of 17 administrative units in the province. It is bordered to the north by the department of Río Chico, on the east by the department of Graneros, to the south by the department of La Cocha and to the west by the province of Catamarca. Economy and Tourism

The Ruta Provincial 308 connects the capital of the department of Ciudad Alberdi with the reservoir Escaba, the main tourist attraction of the department. Here lives one of the largest bat colonies in the Americas. The reservoir is also used for power generation and the dam of the type Ambursen is among the highest in the world.
