Juan Carlos Aramburu

Juan Carlos Cardinal Aramburu ( born February 11, 1912 Reducción, Argentina, † 18 November 2004 in Buenos Aires ) was Archbishop of Tucumán and Buenos Aires.

Life

Juan Carlos Aramburu grew up in Spain and Argentina. After leaving school, he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, the subjects Catholic theology and philosophy. He received his doctorate in philosophy and canon law. On October 28, 1934, he received the sacrament of Holy Orders, which he returned to Argentina and until 1946 held various responsibilities in the Diocese of Río Cuarto. He served as a parish chaplain service, lectured canon law and served as chancellor of the students in the seminary "Our Lady of Loreto ".

1946 Pope Pius XII appointed him. Auxiliary Bishop, 1953 Bishop and 1957 to the Archbishop of Tucumán. Juan Carlos Aramburu participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council and was appointed Koadjutorerzbischof of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires in 1967. In 1975, he was then archbishop in the Argentine capital. On May 24, 1976 took him by Pope Paul VI. as cardinal priest with the titular church of San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini in the College of Cardinals. He participated in the August conclave, emerged from the Pope John Paul I, as well as on October 1978 conclave that elected John Paul II, in part. In 1990, Cardinal Aramburu the management of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires for reasons of age. He died on 18 November 2004 in Buenos Aires and was buried in the local cathedral.
