Juan de Herrera

Juan de Herrera ( * 1530 in Movellan, Cantabria, † 1597 in Madrid) was a Spanish architect.

Juan de Herrera was the architect in the construction of the monastery Real Sitio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial. He is regarded as the builder of the monastery, although he took over this task from the heavily diseased Juan Bautista de Toledo. In Spain, was named after him the Estilo Herrerianio.
