Juan Falú

Alfredo Juan Falú ( born October 10, 1948 in Tucumán ) is an Argentine guitarist and composer who is active in the field of Latin American folklore and classical music.

Falú studied guitar and folklore at the Conservatorio Manuel de Falla in Buenos Aires. As a supporter of Peronism he was during the military dictatorship in exile. In 1983 he returned to Argentina and became a professor of folklore at the Conservatory of Buenos Aires. For his work Sistematización de generos musicales argentinos y su aplicación pedagógica a través de la guitarra he was awarded by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes.

In the 1990s he produced a number of projects in government contract. For the Ministry of Education was created in collaboration with José Luis Castiñeira and Miguel Ángel Estrella Cinco Siglos de Música 1992 en América Austral; also organized Falú from 1995 to 1999, the annual Festival del Mundo Guitarras. The Centro Cultural San Martín Buenos Aires led two guitar festivals and the cycle of events Maestros del Alma with pianist Hilda Herrera. He is also a founding member of Guitarristas de América ( GUIA ).

Falú appeared as a soloist in more than twenty countries in Europe, Asia and America. In addition to recordings with other musicians, he has published over thirty solo albums. In 2000 he won the First National Prize of Music of Argentina.
