Juan Gabriel Vásquez

Juan Gabriel Vásquez (born 1973 in Bogotá ) is a Colombian writer and translator.

Life

Juan Gabriel Vásquez studied at the Sorbonne Latin American literature. Before he Informants became internationally with his award-winning novel notoriety, he had already made as a translator of works of Victor Hugo, John Hersey, John Dos Passos and EM Forster, as well as an essayist a name. Vásquez is a columnist for the Colombian magazine El Espectador. In 2011 he was awarded for his novel El ruido de las cosas al caer the Premio de Novela Alfaguara. Vásquez lives with his wife and two daughters in Barcelona.
