Juan González Arintero

Juan González Arintero OP ( * June 24, 1860, † February 20, 1928 ), Dominicans since 1875, a Catholic priest, Spanish theologian, taught mainly in Salamanca Apologetics and Spiritual Theology. He founded in 1921 in Bilbao, the magazine La Vida Sobrenatural, a first journals for mystical theology. This was a role model for other European journals such as the Journal of asceticism and mysticism (Innsbruck 1926). Arintero is one of the founders of modern spirituality. Its importance lies especially in the fact that his integrative approach helped to overcome the neo-scholastic separation of asceticism and mysticism. Of current interest is also its evolutionary ecclesiology. The mystical dimension of the Church ( corpus Christi mysticum ) is the principle of their collective fulfillment and completion.
