The Varadero Juan Gualberto Gómez ( Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Gualberto Gómez ) international airport in the Cuban province of Matanzas, is used primarily for leisure air travel. He is after the Havana airport the second most important international airport in Cuba. Charter carriers from Canada and Europe carry the largest amount of passengers. In the summer of 2012, he was used by seven Canadian and eight European airlines. From Germany he will fly with Air Berlin from Dusseldorf, Munich and Berlin and Condor from Vienna, Frankfurt and Cologne for the winter timetable 14/15. The airport is equipped for the handling of a maximum of 2,200 passengers per hour.
