Juan Jover

Juan Jover ( born November 23, 1903 in Barcelona, † June 28, 1960 in Sitges) was a Spanish racing driver.

Juan Jover was one of those racers, although they could, yet never were at the start of a Grand Prix to qualify for a World Cup race of the Formula 1. In 1951, he reached in practice for the Spanish Grand Prix after all 18th place, after an engine failure could not participate in the race.

Jover was in the late 1940s in motorsport active. On a Maserati Scuderia Milano, he was the Grand Prix of Bari in 1947 and at the Albi Grand Prix in 1948 at the start ( he also had his only Formula 1 appearance as a team member of the Scuderia Milano ). In Bari, he was sixth in the race and in the Alpi achieved seventh place overall.

His biggest success in motorsport celebrated Jover 1949 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. 1949 found the long distance race at the Sarthe after the war years first place again. Jover reached with partner Henri Louveau on a Delage second place overall and victory in the class for cars up to three liters. They were beaten only by Luigi Chinetti and Peter Mitchell - Thomson, 2nd Baron Selsdon, celebrating the first major victory in motor racing for Ferrari at the Ferrari 166MM.

Jover drove to 1953 car racing, mainly sports car racing for the Scuderia Pegaso. Just before the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1953 he had after severe injuries he had sustained in a racing accident, end his career. He died in 1960 in a car accident.
