Juan Luis Guerra

Juan Luis Guerra ( born June 7, 1957 in Santo Domingo ) is a singer, guitarist and composer of the Dominican Republic. He is the most well-known representative of the merengue, but played an important role for the Bachata.

Biography and Discography

Juan Luis Guerra was born in Santo Domingo, where he spent his youth. After studying at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo philosophy and literature for a year, he moved to the Conservatorio Nacional de Música, where he completed a four-year degree. Guerra was at this time a great admirer of the Cuban Nueva Trova. The main representatives of this genre were Pablo Milanes and Silvio Rodríguez.
