Juan Pablo Orrego

Juan Pablo Orrego (* 1949) is a Chilean musician and ecologist.

Juan Pablo Orrego -founded with other colleagues (including Rodrigo Garretón Kralemann, Cristián Opazo and Dario Jana - Castro), Grupo de Acción por el Biobío ( GABB ) to an ecologically questionable dam project (including Ralco Dam ) prevent the Río Bío Bío, that would have led to the expulsion of the Pehuenche Indians. The initiative was the foundation for a human rights and environmental movements in the young democracy after military dictatorship and sparked a nationwide debate on alternative development from.
