Juanita Wilson

Juanita Wilson is an Irish film director and a producer of -.

Wilson attended the National College of Art and Design, where she studied art. In addition, she studied at the Dublin Institute of Technology design and journalism. After graduation she started as a director to work and also produced the films Inside I'm Dancing and H3.

For her first short film, The Door, which is based on a " monologue " from the book " Chernobyl. A Chronicle of the Future " by Svetlana Alexievich, presented the Irish Film Board funding available. The film was shot in Kiev and Pripyat. It is about a family and the changes in their lives after the disaster of Chernobyl. The daughter dies of radiation sickness and the father returns to the restricted area to his old apartment back to take the front door. The door is ultimately used as a stretcher to transport the deceased daughter to her grave.

The film won the award for Best Short Film at the Irish Film and Television Awards and film festivals in Bilbao, Cork and Foyle. In addition, Wilson and producer James Flynn received an Oscar nomination in the category Best Short Film.

Your previous last film was As if I'm not There with Stellan Skarsgård in the leading role. The film is based on Slavenka Drakulićs book as it was not for me.
