Juba dance

Juba was originally a plantation dance, conceived and developed by West African slaves who were allowed to use no drums during their meetings under threat of penalty. Instead, they used the body as a rhythm and communication tools on the plantations.

Juba Dance originated mainly in Dutch Guiana, the Caribbean and the American South.
