Jublains

Jublains, formerly Jubleins, is a commune with 691 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Mayenne in the Pays de la Loire.

History

Jublains is the old Noviodunum (also Noeodunum or Noiodunum; Greek Νοιόδουνον ), the capital of the Gallic tribe of the Celts Diablinten. After the Roman conquest and colonization it was called Civitas Diablintum. A museum and excavations around the Roman theater documenting the ancient history of the place.

In a document from the Middle Ages, referred to by the geographer Jean -Baptiste Bourguignon d' Anville, first emerged on the name Jublent, which was later changed to Jubleins. A Roman road map calls a capital Nudionnum between Araegenus (Vieux Calvados region ) and Subdinnum (Le Mans ), probably making it Noeodunum meant.

Jublains one of the Pays d' art et d' histoire Coëvrons - Mayenne, together with Mayenne, Évron, Sainte -Suzanne and Saulges.
